About this salt
Ochosi is an orisha, one of the holy spirits honored in Santería. He is the hunter of the forest, whose arrow always finds its mark, so he stands for justice and for finding what you are looking for. People come to him with a court case, an unfair charge, a family member in jail, or a search for work or a home that has gone on too long.
Ochosi is one of the Warriors, with Elegguá, Oggún and Osun, and many homes keep the Warriors near the front door. The door is where his salt goes too. People sprinkle a line across the threshold the morning of a hearing and step over it on the way out. While the case is open, a little goes in the corners of the room where the papers are kept, and some leave a pinch under the doormat.
After each hearing, sweep the salt out the front door toward the street and put down fresh salt before the next one. If you have received the Warriors from a santero or santera, a priest of Santería, ask them before you put anything near the Warriors, and for anything beyond salt and a candle at home, they are the ones to see. His sign is the bow and arrow, and his colors are blue and amber.
Ways to use
- The morning of a hearing
- Sprinkle a line of salt across the front door and step over it as you leave for court.
- Where the papers are kept
- Put a little in the corners of the room where the case papers are, or a small dish beside the folder.
- Under the doormat
- Keep a pinch under the front doormat while the case is open. Change it every week.
- Ask first
- If the Warriors live in your home, ask your santero or santera before you put salt anywhere near them.
Goes with
Elegguá is greeted first, before any orisha. Put a few drops of Ochosi oil on a blue candle, and the night before a hearing light a second candle with Court Case or Just Judge.
