About this oil
Toloache is one of the oldest love traditions in Mexico. People use this oil when they want to keep a partner close and faithful: a husband whose eyes have started to wander, a love who comes and goes, a relationship they are afraid of losing. It is the oil for holding on and asking someone to stay, not for finding a new love.
The name comes from a wild plant that Mexican folk tradition has tied to love for centuries. This oil carries the name of the tradition only; there is no toloache plant in it. It goes with a purple candle for a strong tie, or a red one for passion, and Friday is its day. The oil is purple, with a warm ylang and ginger scent.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- On a Friday, put a few drops on a purple seven-day candle and set a photo of the two of you under the glass.
- With a written prayer or photo
- Write both of your names on one piece of paper. Put a drop on each corner, fold it toward you, tie it with a red ribbon and keep it under the candle.
- On doors and windows
- Put a drop on the frame of the front door, so the way home stays open and the way out stays closed.
