About this oil

Tick is for keeping a love close and faithful, so a partner stays put and their eyes don't wander. It is named for the tick, garrapata in Spanish, because once it holds on it doesn't let go. People use it when a relationship feels loose, when a partner travels for work, or when someone new is paying their partner too much attention.

Tick is a Friday oil, the day for love. Its candle is red, and it is kept with the couple's things: two lodestones (magnetic stones), a photograph of the two together, a knot of red thread. Many keep a honey jar with both names inside beside it, so the love stays sweet. The oil is purple, with a warm ylang-ylang and ginger scent.

Ways to use

With a written prayer or photo
Write both names on brown paper, one over the other. Put a drop of oil on it, fold it toward you, tie it tight with red thread and keep it under the candle.
On a candle
On a Friday, put a few drops on a red seven-day candle and set the photograph of the two of you under the glass.
On charm bags, stones and medals
Keep two lodestones in a small red cloth bag with the couple's photograph and a few cockleburs, the burrs that cling to clothes. Add a drop of the oil every Friday.
