About this salt
Peace at Home salt is for a house where nobody is getting along. People pick it up when the arguing happens every day, when a relative has moved in and the rooms feel crowded, after a death in the family, or before the holidays bring everyone under one roof. It is used to ask for calm, patience and kind words among the people who share a home.
The salt goes where the trouble starts. A little goes in the corners of the room where people argue most, often the kitchen or the living room. A thin line goes across the front door before relatives arrive, so that everyone who comes in, comes in peace. Some keep a small dish of it where the family's candle burns, on the kitchen table or a shelf in the main room, never in one person's room, because the peace is for everyone.
Once a week, sweep the corners from the back of the house to the front door and out to the street, and put down fresh salt. When the guests leave, sweep the doorway the same way. Its symbols are the dove and the olive branch. Its candles are blue and white, and many light them on a quiet evening, after the dishes are done.
