About this oil
Do As I Say is the oil people use when the people around them stop listening: a partner who makes every decision alone, a relative who won't hear them out on a family matter, a contractor who keeps putting them off. People use it to ask that what they want be taken into account. It asks to be heard; the other person still makes their own choices.
Its candle is purple, the color the tradition keeps for command, and its day is Thursday. It goes with a short written request: one person, one thing you are asking. Calamus root, also called sweet flag, is its old companion. The oil is purple, with a warm ylang and ginger scent.
Ways to use
- With a written prayer or photo
- Write the person's name, and under it, in one line, what you are asking of them. Put a drop on the paper, fold it toward you and set it under the candle.
- On a candle
- On a Thursday, put a few drops on a purple seven-day candle. Each day, say your request out loud in the same calm words until the candle burns out.
- On charm bags, stones and medals
- Keep a piece of calamus root in a small purple cloth bag with your written request, and add a drop every Thursday.
