About this oil
Bend Over is the oil people use when one person has all the say and won't budge: a boss who won't listen, a partner who always needs the last word, a relative who runs the whole family. People use it to bend that person's will to their own. They come to the counter with a name, and usually a long story.
It goes with a purple candle, the color the tradition gives to power and command. People often light it nine nights in a row at the same hour. Two old roots go with it, licorice and calamus, kept in a small bag or set beside the candle. The oil is purple, with a warm ylang and ginger scent close to kananga.
Ways to use
- With a written prayer or photo
- On a small piece of paper, write the person's full name nine times, then write your own name across it so the names cross. Put a drop on the paper, fold it toward you and set it under the candle.
- On a candle
- Put a few drops on a purple seven-day candle and light it at the same hour each night. On a plain candle without glass, first scratch the person's name into the wax with a nail, with your own name above it.
- On charm bags, stones and medals
- Put a piece of licorice root and a piece of calamus root in a small purple cloth bag. Add a drop of Bend Over to the bag on the same day each week.
