About this oil

Unblocker's Spanish name is Destrancadera. It comes from tranca, the heavy bar laid across a door to keep it shut. People pick it up when life feels barred that way. A sale falls through at the last minute, a loan is stuck in review, a love won't move forward, or every door closes just as you reach it. It is used to ask that the bar be lifted.

It comes from Espiritismo, the Spiritist tradition of the Caribbean, where it is used alongside a limpia, a spiritual cleansing. Its candle is orange, the color of open roads, with white beside it for a clean start. Many use it on a Monday and leave the door of the room open while the candle burns. The oil is orange.

Ways to use

On doors and windows
Put a drop at the top of the front door frame, then on each side, as if lifting the bar off. Finish with a line of oil along the threshold.
In mop water and around the house
Add a few drops to a bucket of water and mop from the back of the house to the front door, to take out what is in the way. Throw the water out before you put the oil on the door.
On a candle
On a Monday, put a few drops on an orange seven-day candle. Set the stuck paperwork, or a note about what won't move, under the glass.
In your wallet or business
When sales have stopped cold, put a drop on the shop door frame and on the four corners of the register before you open.
