About this oil
Uncrossing is the oil people use when everything goes wrong at once and it feels like more than bad luck: one setback after another, money that slips away, a house full of arguments, a feeling that someone did something. It is used to lift what was put on a person or a home and set things right again.
Uncrossing is a cleansing oil. People clean the house with it from the back toward the front, often nine days in a row, while the moon is waning. Its candle is white, or a double-action candle, half black and half white. Rue and hyssop, two cleansing herbs, go beside it. Many people pray Psalm 51, the Miserere, as the candle burns. The oil is clear, with a frankincense and myrrh scent.
Ways to use
- In mop water and around the house
- Add a few drops to the mop water each morning for nine days. Mop from the back of the house to the front door and throw the water out.
- On a candle
- Put a few drops on a white seven-day candle while the moon is waning. If the candle has no glass, spread the oil away from you; on a black-and-white candle, start at the black end.
- With a written prayer or photo
- Write down plainly what has gone wrong and put a drop of oil on the paper. Fold it away from you. When the candle burns out, burn the paper and throw the ashes out of the house.
- On doors and windows
- After the last mopping, mark a small cross with the oil on the front door frame, so what was lifted stays out.
