About this oil
Oggún is the orisha of iron and labor in Santería. He is the tireless worker who cleared the path through the forest with his machete, and the patron of everyone who makes a living with tools and metal: mechanics, welders, drivers, construction crews. Devotees light a candle to him to ask for steady work, strength for long hours, and protection on the job and on the road.
His colors are green and black, and in Cuba he is honored together with St. Peter on June 29. He is one of the Warriors, received with Elegguá and Ochosi from a santero or santera and kept near the front door. Beyond a candle at home, his devotion is guided by a santero. The oil is green, with a fresh clover scent.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- Before a new job or a hard week, put seven drops on a green seven-day candle and light it for him.
- In the car
- Put a drop on each tire of your truck and a drop on your toolbox at the start of the week.
- On the altar and saint statues
- On June 29, put a drop on the base of the statue of St. Peter and on the candle in front of him.
