About this oil
St. Joseph is the husband of the Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus, a carpenter who provided for his family with his trade. People come to him for the home and the family: a job for the head of the house, a roof over the children, a house that needs to sell or a home to buy.
His feast day is March 19, and on May 1 the Church honors him as St. Joseph the Worker. Wednesday is traditionally his day. He is shown holding the Child Jesus or a lily, and devotees pray to him with a white candle. Families selling a house often keep a small statue of him there. The oil is clear, with a frankincense and myrrh scent.
Ways to use
- On the altar and saint statues
- On a Wednesday, put a drop on the base of his statue and on the candle in front of it. Keep the oil off his face.
- On a candle
- On March 19, or when the family is going through a hard time, put a few drops on a white seven-day candle and pray for everyone in the house.
- With a written prayer or photo
- When the request is a job or a house, write it down plainly: the address, the job, the date. Keep the paper under his candle.
- On doors and windows
- When you move into a new home, put a drop on the frame of the front door and ask St. Joseph to watch over the house.
