About this oil
Marriage is the oil people use for the bond between husband and wife. Engaged couples use it as the wedding comes closer. Married couples use it on an anniversary, after a hard year, or when work and children leave little time for each other. Often it is the mother or grandmother who comes to the counter for it, to pray for a son's or daughter's marriage.
Marriage goes with a pink candle for tenderness and a white one for the vows, and Friday is its day. At a Mexican wedding the couple receives the arras, thirteen coins blessed at the Mass, and many families keep them in their little box on the home altar. The oil is pink.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- On a Friday, put a few drops on a pink seven-day candle and set a white one beside it. Light them together.
- With a written prayer or photo
- Write both names on one piece of paper, with the wedding date or the day you met. Put a drop on each corner, fold it toward you and keep it under the pink candle.
- On charm bags, stones and medals
- On each anniversary, put a drop on the box where you keep the wedding arras, or on the coins themselves.
