About this oil
Infant of Prague is the oil of the Santo Niño de Praga, the Child Jesus as a little king, crowned and robed, holding a globe topped with a cross and raising two fingers to bless. Families keep his image on the home altar or by the register of the family business, and ask him that the house and the shop never go without what they need.
Devotees keep the words Father Cyril heard in Prague: "The more you honor me, the more I will bless you." Many change his robes with the seasons of the Church year. They pray his nine-hour novena for an urgent need, or his novena ending on the 25th of the month. His candle is gold or yellow. The oil is gold.
Ways to use
- On the altar and saint statues
- Put a drop on the base of his statue and on the candle in front of it. When you change his robes for a new season, keep the oil off the cloth and off his face.
- On a candle
- Put a few drops on a gold or yellow seven-day candle and light it on the 25th of the month. Say his prayer each day while it burns.
- With a written prayer or photo
- For an urgent need, write it down plainly and put a drop on the paper. Keep it under his statue while you pray his nine-hour novena, once every hour on the same day.
- In your wallet or business
- In a shop or a stand, keep his image near the register. Put a drop on the corners of the drawer when you open and ask his blessing on the day.
