About this oil

Holy, Santísimo in Spanish, takes its name from the Blessed Sacrament, which Catholics adore in church. People use it to bless what belongs to their prayer life: a new home altar, a saint statue just brought home, a rosary or medal, the white candle on the family altar. Families also use it when they move into a new house. It is a devotional oil for the home, not one of the holy oils a priest blesses.

Holy goes with a white candle. Many people use it on Thursdays, the day the Church remembers the Last Supper, and above all on Holy Thursday. The oil is clear, with a frankincense and myrrh scent, the smell of church incense.

Ways to use

On the altar and saint statues
When you set up a new altar, put a drop on each corner of the altar table and on the base of each statue. Leave the faces of the saints alone.
On a candle
On a Thursday, put a few drops on a white seven-day candle and set it at the center of the altar while you pray.
On doors and windows
When you move into a new house, trace a small cross with the oil over the front door and over the door of each bedroom.
On charm bags, stones and medals
Before you give a rosary or medal as a gift, for a baptism or First Communion, put a drop on the cross or the back of the medal.
