About this oil
Holy Trinity is a devotional oil for prayer to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. People reach for it to bless a new home, a baby's room, a marriage or a new business. They also use it in hard times, when they want to put everything in God's care and ask for his blessing over all of it.
The Church celebrates Trinity Sunday on the Sunday after Pentecost. Many families light three white candles together, one for each Person of the Trinity, or put three drops on a single white candle. They make the sign of the cross and pray the Glory Be three times. The oil is clear, with a frankincense and myrrh scent, the smell of church incense.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- Put three drops on top of a white seven-day candle, in a small triangle around the wick, saying "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
- On doors and windows
- When you move into a new home, trace a small cross with the oil on the frame of the front door and say the same words. Do it again each Trinity Sunday.
- On the altar and saint statues
- Put a drop on the corners of a Holy Trinity holy card, or on the base of the crucifix on the home altar, and on the candle in front of it.
