About this oil
Helping Hand is the oil for the devotion to the Most Powerful Hand, La Mano Poderosa. Its image is the Powerful Hand of Christ, bearing the wound of the cross, with the Holy Family standing on the fingers. They are the Child Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and Mary's parents, Saints Joachim and Anne. People turn to this devotion when they need help with many things at once, or don't know which saint to ask.
The devotion is loved across Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Families keep its holy card on the home altar for years and pray to it in hard times. Its candle is white, or the seven-color candle. The oil is clear, with a frankincense and myrrh scent, the smell of church incense.
Ways to use
- On the altar and saint statues
- Put a drop on the corners of the holy card or on the base of the statue. Keep the oil off the holy faces.
- On a candle
- Put a few drops on a white candle and, as you light it, say each holy name: Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Joachim and Anne.
- With a written prayer or photo
- Write each need on its own line: the job, the house, the family. Fold the paper toward you and set it under the candle.
- With offerings
- When a prayer is answered, bring fresh flowers in thanks and put a drop on the rim of the vase.
