About this oil
Reverse It is the oil people use when they believe someone sent something bad their way: bad luck that arrived all at once, trouble that started after a falling-out, a home where nothing has gone right since a certain person came around. People use it to send that back where it came from, without wishing anyone harm, and to let their own luck return.
Its candle is the black-and-red candle, black over red. The black is for what goes back, and the red is for what you call back to you. Many people set the candle on a small mirror and light it on a Saturday, or when the moon is getting smaller. The oil is red, for the luck you call home, with a rose scent.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- Put a few drops on top of a black-and-red candle and set it on a small mirror, shiny side up. Say plainly what you are sending back, then let the candle burn all the way down.
- With a written prayer or photo
- On a small piece of paper, write what you are sending back in mirror writing, so it reads right in the mirror. Put a drop on the paper, fold it away from you and set it under the candle.
- On doors and windows
- Mark the frame of the back door with a small cross of oil. In the tradition, the back door is the one for sending things out.
- In mop water and around the house
- When the trouble has settled into the house, add a few drops to the mop water. Mop from the back toward the front door and throw the water out past the doorstep.
