About this oil
People use Go Away when someone, or something, needs to leave: a roommate who won't move out, a person who keeps showing up at the door, a neighbor who brings nothing but trouble, an ex who won't stop calling. It is used to send that trouble on its way, away from the house. The intention is for them to go, not for anything to happen to them.
Go Away is used while the moon is waning, getting smaller each night. That is the time the tradition keeps for sending things out. Many people start on a Saturday. Its candle is black, or white for a gentler goodbye. The oil is purple, with a warm ylang-ylang and ginger scent.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- Scratch the name into the wax with a pin. Then spread the oil away from you while the moon is waning, and let the candle burn out on its own.
- With a written prayer or photo
- Write the name on brown paper, put a drop of oil on it and fold it away from you, again and again, until it is small. When the candle burns out, take the paper far from the house, to running water or a crossroads.
- In mop water and around the house
- Once the person has gone, add a few drops to a bucket of mop water. Mop from the back of the house to the front door and throw the water out into the street, so nothing of the trouble stays behind.
