About this oil
Jackpot is the oil people use when they are going after the big prize: the lottery drawing, a raffle, the slot machines, the last game of bingo night. It is for asking for luck at the moment of the game. People who play the same numbers every week use it, and so do people who buy one ticket when the prize gets big.
Jackpot is a Thursday oil, the day the tradition gives to luck and plenty. People light the candle early enough that it is still burning on the night of the drawing. Its candle is green, with a gold one beside it for the prize. Players keep the oil with their numbers, a lucky coin or a horseshoe. It is green, with a fresh clover scent.
Ways to use
- On a candle
- On a Thursday, put a few drops on a green seven-day candle and set the ticket or your numbers under the glass. Count back from the drawing so it is still lit that night.
- With a written prayer or photo
- On brown paper, write the name of the game and the date of the drawing. Put a drop on the paper, fold it toward you around the ticket and keep it under the candle until the numbers come out.
- On charm bags, stones and medals
- Put a drop on a lucky coin or a small horseshoe and carry it to the game. Add another drop before each drawing.
- In the car
- Before the drive to the casino, put a drop on each of the four tires.
